What a stupid league man. I might have to boycott this entire sport because I have given up all hope on any true competition. Tell me how it’s fair that arguably the best team ever assembled just added a 4-time All-Star and 2-time All NBA center in Demarcus “Boogie” Cousins without having to give anything up to get him. I get the whole saying, that ‘life isn’t fair and you have to work hard for things that you want’ but how can we allow a move of this amplitude to happen in what was once an elite league for competition. The Warriors will have to work hard to lose games at this point because there is absolutely no competition for them left, period. They have an All-Star starting 5, something that we have never, in the history of the NBA, seen before. The league should have stepped in, analyzed the circumstances and terminated any sort of idea towards the makes of this signing. Tell me how a 6’11, 270 pound center, who averaged 25/13/5 last year with 35% shooting percentage from three has signed a one-year deal for only 5.3 million dollars. There are players like Andrew Wiggins who averaged 18/4/2 last season making 5-6 times more than Cousins annually. Something is not right here, someone needs to get a hold on this ridiculous excuse of an association.
For as much of a Lebron hater that I am, I was actually excited to see him choose LA as his new destination of choice. I thought it would be good for him to not only deal with better regular season competition in the West but also help the talented youth on the Laker’s grow into true professionals and by that of course I mean: teaching them the proper way to flop…ZINGER. After this fiasco with Boogie though, I don’t think it really matters who Lebron has on his team or how good he plays, they will not stand a chance against Golden State. Add Kawhi, lose. Add AD, lose. Add Kyrie, lose again. You add all three of those guys and then we can talk, sure but that would be impossible. There is literally no combination of players Lebron could string together that would work without losing their entire bench or paying little to no money. That’s it, it’s over, poor guy. One good thing that comes out of playing in the West for Lebron is that at least it won’t impact his finals record any worse cause he will be out before he can even get there.
Some people are saying Cousins may not be ready until about midway through the season but I don’t see how that really matters. The Warriors have had a top three record in the NBA for the last four years and won three championships in the same span of time. I am sure they will be fine without him for a little while considering their track record and in saying that he really has no rush on his return. He can take his time with the recovery process to guarantee he will be back at full health because his team will have no problem keeping a win percentage well above 500 without him. When he does finally return, the league better crawl into a deep dark hole and prepare for the apocalypse because I will be surprised if the Warriors lose at all with their current projected starting 5. The league has gone to absolute shit and I think, for this season at least, that we should completely write it off, give the Warriors the Larry O’Brien trophy and try again next year.
Just for the people who aren’t familiar with Boogie’s work, here are some of his top performances:
